On Friday, 23rd June 2017, The President & Chairman of Council, Nigerian British Chamber of Commerce, Prince Dapo Adelegan led a 10 man delegation to pay a courtesy visit and decorate Alhaji Aliko Dangote, GCON
the President, Dangote Group of Companies as Patron, of the Nigerian-British Chamber of Commerce.

The President, NBCC, Prince Dapo Adelegan, said that the investiture of Dangote was in recognition of his role in globalising the country, noting that the business mogul had been the arrowhead in the branding of the country in terms of the quality of his entrepreneurial skills, business, as well as huge investments in key sectors of the economy.

Adelegan noted that the NBCC was proud to be associated with Dangote and that his investiture as a patron was justified with the impact of the social services of the Dangote Foundation, and urged him to continue to be of service to many generations in the Country.

The NBCC solicited for the support of the business mogul in the completion of its four-storey building in Lekki and informed him that the council had approved the naming of the conference room after him.
In his response, Dangote commended and appreciated the Chamber for the award and lauded the impressive roles of the NBCC in the last 40 years to promote business ties between Nigeria and Britain.
He stated that his organisation had maintained an office in London for over 20 years as part of its role in deepening partnership with the British government.

Dangote pledged the commitment of the Dangote Group to supporting the programmes and activities of the NBCC as well as boosting strong partnerships with it to sustain business and economic growth.
He asserted that his organisation would provide the required support to enable the NBCC to actualise its dream of building the office complex.

According to him, the Dangote Group has continued to diversify into various sectors of the economy and this is primarily done to serve as an avenue to encourage other companies to invest in the Nigerian economy.

He stressed the need to have the political will to develop the Country, noting that this could only come through strong networking and partnership in order to instill confidence in the Nigerian economy.

Dangote reiterated the need for the NBCC and other corporate organisations to come together and fashion a blueprint to support the initiatives of the government in revamping the economy.

He added that despite the recession, there was still hope for Nigeria to develop her economic potential and remain strong.
